Post Fired for reading the Simply Fired stories!

Well, the story is so short and simply that it isn't really a story, but
as you guys were involved, i though you might wanna know. I was spending
about 30 mins a day reading this site at work, when my boss called me up
to his office. Our old computer guy was rubbish, didn't monitor
anything, and doesn't speak enough english to complain to my boss (i'm
living and working in Cambodia) so i figured taking an extra 30 mins a
day break wouldn't hurt (as i work 10 hour days already). Anyways, turns
out that the boss checked by himself and said i was spending too much
time reading this site and not enough time working - so i'm now fired!
This happened about half an hour ago.

if this is a true story then it is a hell of a story. i wonder if we are asking people for proof that they were fired.

Default I was right!

I am not suggesting this is untrue, however I have been waiting for a story like this for some time. I knew it would show up eventually.

Talking Hi,

It actually wouldn't surprise me if the story is true (I actually spoke to the person via email). I've seen tons of stories where an employer fires someone for spending too much time on the web (for personal reasons) at work.

I solved the problem by getting a job where I can surf the web all day

Yes, and we are all sincerely happy for you for that accomplishment. Now don't mind me as I continue my vodoo dance of death ritual. It's not you I am cursing. Nope, definately not. Nope...

Seriously though, it wouldn't surprise me if it were true either.

Default all night long

I stole Internet from a job and got fired worked for an ISP. They said they had to many accounts that didn’t go any where (no names on the account just ghosts) and they were paid up for like 10 years. LOL I loved working for an ISP. The bad thing is they gave me 1 free account. That was a great job though I sat on the T3 all night and watched for squatters on the band with. (During the days of 56k) you could download porn at T3 speed ha-ha. I slept mostly and would boot the server a couple times a night. The good ole days still had free account years after till they went out of business. Lol those people were Dumb. But what really got me fired is when I broke into the server from home and sent an e-mail to my boss from his own e-mail address. He was fuming. Threatened to call the police on my cohort and me. My friend crashed the server the next day and it magically disappeared. I know this was illegal but I was young and stupid. I.e. learned from my mistakes. But just though it was funny.

Me too. I thought about somthing like this happening long before it actually did happen.

I even half expect another story similar to this one in the future sometime.

Perhaps the next instance of "Getting Fired For Reading Simply Fired" Will even be more dramatic and bizzare. :-) Not unlike most of the fired stories I've read so far.
