Hi,

I was just wondering if people could tell me what makes for a pleasant work environment.

Is it your co-workers?
Is it where you work (location)?
Is it your boss?

I personally place a lot of weight on getting along with my co-workers. The relationship with my co-workers, at least to me, is probably not that much different than family because of the hours spent together.

What works for you? What doesn't work for you?

Hi Damon :) Good to see you back online!

For me, the biggest part of a good work environment is having a great group of co-workers. Like you said, it's like a family and if you don't get along with those that you see on a daily basis, it's very hard to be happy.

My best job environment was right after I graduated from college. The group I worked with got along very well - maybe a bit too well because not only did we work 40+ hours a week together, but went out most nights too! It was funny because none of us knew one another before we went to work in that particular office but when the office moved 45 miles away, many of us wound up living in the same apartment building for the next year and it really cemented us as a family group. It's been over 15 years since I worked for that company and I still keep in touch with many of the people. :D
