Prison vs. Work
In prison you spend the majority of your time in an 8' X 10' cell. At work you spend most of your time in a 6' X 8' cubicle.
In prison you get three meals a day. At work you only get a break for one meal and you have to pay for that one.
In prison you get time off for good behavior. At work you get rewarded for good behavior with more work.
In prison a guard locks and unlocks all the doors for you. At work you must carry around a security card and unlock and open all the doors yourself.
In prison you can watch TV and play games. At work you get fired for watching TV and playing games.
In prison they ball-and-chain you when you go somewhere. At work you are just ball-and-chained.
In prison you get your own loot. At work you have to share.
In prison they allow your family and friends to visit. At work you cannot even speak to your family and friends.
In prison all expenses are paid by taxpayers, with no work required.
At work you get to pay all the expenses to go to work and then they deduct taxes from your salary to pay for the prisoners.
In prison you spend most of your life looking through bars from the inside wanting to get out. At work you spend most of your time wanting to get out and inside bars.
In prison you can join many programs which you can leave at any time. At work there are some programs you can never get out of.
In prison there are wardens who are often sadistic. At work we have managers.

In prison you get an interesting and unusual sex life.
At work sex will get you fired. ;)

"At work sex will get you fired."
Didn't see that in the memo;)
LOL! Thanks for posting that, Damon! That is hilarious! I think I've actually seen that before. It is just as funny to me now as it was then. :p

You forgot,
in Jail you can bribe or beat up people to avoid taking it up the arse.. at Work you have no choice.. if fact its encourged at some places
in Jail you have the chance of getting lubed before
in Jail you have the chance of getting a reach around
not so at work..

Ok, call me a killjoy, but in prison you don't get the option of changing cells (other than to downgrade to solitary confinement). At work, you can go find a better job...

At work, you get paid. Though I've heard you get paid for some of the work they make you do in jail, though not very much.
Work leaves you with something to put on your resume in hopes of getting a promotion or better job later. Jail doesn't exactly look quite as good on your resume. :p
You can go home after work and do whatever you want. You can't go home at all from jail.
You can spend time with friends and family after work. You can't in jail, unless your friends and family just happen to be in there with you.
At many work places, you can decorate your desk as you see fit (within reason of course). In jail, you get the same boring bars, plain, uncomfortable bed, and bare walls.
So, yeah, I think I'd definitely take work over jail! LOL! :p Then again... I've never actually been in jail. Maybe I just don't konw what I'm missing. :p

LOL! True dat. Still, I can definitely sympathize with the joke. Can't we all? Work definitely feels like jail sometimes. :p

Indeed, but the big difference is that I choose to be at work, if you are in jail it is probably not a choice...

Then again, you could argue that going to work is only really a choice in as much as breathing is a choice. If you don't breathe, you won't live. If you don't go to work, you won't be much better off. :p

I don't quite buy into that. Going to work supports a certain lifestyle, but in our nanny state, you won't go homeless or hungry if you don't want to. Also, you have the option of doing different work (for instance, if you are bored with your career as an IT professional, you could sell real estate, go back to school and learn another trade, or start a small business selling computers...). You have choices, in prison you generally do not. You can opt to move from a supermax prison to a country club prison if you are tired of the accomodations at the supermax. you can however, move from a country club prison to a supermax, so I guess the difference in choices is that your 'job' is 100% your choice, and you either live with it or you make a new choice to upgrade. With prison, you can only change by getting moved into tighter and tighter security.

Well I can't speak reams but I can say what I know about jail.. I been in jail for about 5 days between 3 charges in the US and 7 days in Canada 4 in solitary..
Basically coming in is pretty much standard, get your picture taken, fill out some forms (well actually the cops do), stripped (everything in cataloged), searched (yes they do search your mouth, armpits, and arse), given a uniform, told the rules of the jail, given a phone call..
As far as jail life.. pretty much like in high school everyone has thier clique your pretty okay as long as you don't cause trouble and keep to yourself (bear in mind all 4 times I been in jail I been in the minium security cell block or the PC aka protective custosy cell block). For the record have to be careful if your in PC block and get transported (basically rapists, mentally handicap, old farts people that would have a hard time in a real cell block are put there.. and during transport you put in with the real criminals.. and sometimes things happen)

My brother got six months for a stupid typical mistake that kids are wont to make. He was tried as an adult. He got lucky his boss went to bat for him and got him into work release. He gets out next month gets his inheritance at the same time and will be okay.
