Hi,

The link below has some additional information on networking.

http://www.careerlab.com/art_secrets.htm

I found this part of the article to be pretty informative:

If you're wondering what else to ask in a networking session, try these on for size: How does my resume look? What would you change or modify? Are my letters crystal clear? Do you have any advice or ideas for me? Who else should I be talking to? Are there any groups or organizations I should attend? Are there any books or publications I should read? What would you do if you were me? Who would you be talking to?

Note from Damon: This approach appears to be valuable because you are creating a feedback loop. You are also seeking outside information from others to help you make your job search easier. The fact that open-ended questions are asked probably helps to create a dialogue much easier.

And don't forget "What can I do to help you?" That's one powerful question, and puts people on your side rather quickly and for the long term, should you actually be able to help them. Maybe they need to buy a pet rabbit, find a personal trainer, know a good sushi restaurant. Give to get/Love is the killer app/and all like that there good stuff.

Awesome tip. A very solid way to make sure the relationship is a two-way relationship.
