Here is a list of items that can kill your career:

1. Not producing results.
2. Not working at a job your passionate about.
3. Seeking job security (no job is entirely secure these days).
4. Having a bad attitude.
5. Not believing in yourself.
6. Gossiping and playing office politics.
7. Burning bridges.
8. Acting inappropriately.

Note from Damon:
#8 has been a problem for yours truly. There is a saying, after all, about what people turn into with alcohol. I can't believe some of the dumb things I've done (or said) while at a company party.

This is the reason why I don't drink like I usually drink if I go to a company sponsor party. Alcohol is the elixir of the devil...haha.

Ah yes, the dreaded company party. Actually not dreaded, more of a form of entertainment. :) I have seen many laughable things (as long as they are not happening to me and I don't have to wake up to the memory).

Damon, you are just full of stories, aren't you? :)

You don't know the half of it;) Most of the ones I've posted are quite tame:) I'm surprised I've made it this far :D

I usually "make an appearance" at office soirees. Working at a resort with 600 workers can lead to serious fun and drunken misbehavior. After one or two beers and some great food (gourment cooks rock!), I usually disappear with my girlfriend for a romantic rest-of-the-evening. Makes for a great night, and you don't get in trouble for doing or saying something stupid. There are articles all over the place about how to avoid looking bad at an office party, and work websites are crammed with office party horror stories.
Bag the office party, and put it my paycheck as a bonus. Now THAT'S reason to celebrate!

"Bag the office party, and put it my paycheck as a bonus. Now THAT'S reason to celebrate!"

Not a bad idea at all! It would probably help some people, such as yours truly, from making an a** of themselves at a formal function. Much of my problem is that I tend to drink more when I get nervous (I am not a big fan of crowds).

I tend to drink more when the booze are free.

But you got to love the open bars...hehe. You just need to pace yourself and drink no more than 1 every 20-30 mins...hehe.

i was worry taht the booze is a trick from upper management to see what employees are really like

I remember this one guy was screaming at tht top of his lungs over and over and over after he had too many drinks "Ok I'm an idiot, Ok I'm an Idiot" over and over and over because he felt guilty about not working.

oh man, that's fun!
